After a dominant win over the Leipzig Kings in Week 4 of the European League of Football, Head Coach Chris Calaycay's team is already preparing for its next opponent: The Vienna Vikings host the league newcomers, the Fehervar Enthroners, on Sunday, July 2 in Szekesfehervar near Budapest. Kickoff is at 4:25 p.m., the Austro-Hungarian Conference duel can be followed with English and German commentary on the league's Game Pass.

In terms of personnel, there are two pieces of news to announce in Week 5 of the current ELF season. Linebacker Leon Huber, who injured his arm/elbow in the game against Leipzig, is unfortunately out for the rest of the season. "We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. However, Leon is in the best hands with our medical team around team doctor Albert Zich," said HC Calaycay, who on the other hand can look forward to a new addition.
„We have a roster addition this week and welcome Daniel Schönt back to Vienna. The veteran was already part of our championship team in 2022. Last year he also joined us mid-season. This year he comes directly from Switzerland, where he was HC of the Bern Grizzlies, to Vienna. It is expected that Schönet will already be in action this weekend," said Chris Calaycay, who is building on the leadership qualities and experience of the 35-year-old Styrian.

Roadtrip to Hungary

On Sunday morning, the team will set off for Szekesfehervar with two buses. On paper, the franchise from Vienna is the clear favorite. As one of three unbeaten teams still, the Vikings come to the Enthroners with a 3-0 record. The hosts will have to find their feet in the European League of Football. In all four games so far, the Hungarians had to admit defeat. At least offensively they could improve from week to week. In the Week 4 game against the Wroclaw Panthers, the Enthroners, who started with a Hungarian quarterback, managed to put 33 points on the scoreboard..
„We prepare ourselves carefully for all opponents. It doesn't matter if we're playing the last team in the standings in a regular season game or in a final against the better-ranked favorite. You do your homework, you want to be in the best possible mindset for your opponent and execute on the field," said cornerback #27 Niko Huszar at today's Press Talk with media representatives.
